Odd Mob at Granary: A New Kind of Mutiny Night

I went to Odd Mob at Granary Open Air on July 31, and it felt like a good moment to look at where Salt Lake’s scene is heading. Mutiny had traded the Boxpac warehouse for an outdoor summer setup. Odd Mob was one of the first big tests of what that change could feel like.

The bill was simple: Odd Mob with Marco Strous. If you know Odd Mob’s house and tech-house sound, you know why that pairing made sense for an open-air night. This wasn’t a show I needed to turn into a track-by-track report. I was there to dance and to see the new space for myself.

What interests me most is that Granary doesn’t need to copy Boxpac. The warehouse had a closeness and an edge that were its own. The open-air format gives Mutiny a different canvas: a larger stage, room to spread out, and a summer-night feel. One does not cancel out the other.

I care about nights like this because they remind me why I started making things for this community in the first place. The music gets us there, but it’s the shared experience that stays with us. A new venue means new memories, and Odd Mob was a strong night for Mutiny’s Granary chapter.
